FAQ

  • What is a job shop?
    • A job shop doesn’t produce a product of its own. We just cut material that becomes products for others
  • What else do you do?
    • We primarily just cut products for others but we also help with the CAD files, along with product development.
  • What is CAD?
    • CAD stands for computer aided design. That is a digital drawing of the part or product that is to be cut. The drawings that you see in magazines of houses or of decks are a good example of CAD.  The drawing (CAD) tells the machine what it is to be cut.
  • So, you can only cut flat items?
    • Good question, no we can cut 3 dimensional items as well. In a 3 dimensional (3D) situation to be cut we would need to have a 3D drawing. An example of a 3D drawing is a Sketchup file. So flat items are cut it 2 dimensions  (2D,X and Y) and 3D are cut in (X,Y and Z).
  • Do I have to know what X,Y and whatever is or even mean?
    • No, not at all we do all that. To use Sketchup as an example (there is a lot of different CAD programs out there) we will take you file and work with you to get the best result for what you looking to have done.
  • I don’t know how to do CAD or anything, how do I get a file for you to use?
    • Sometimes you can ask friends, or we can help you with the files. Bulletin boards at schools that have teach drafting sometimes are a good place to look for help.
  • What products can you cut?
    • Hardwoods (solid boards, slabs), plywood, MDF, melamine, plastics, acrylics, foam, sign board, diabond, aluminum, brass, copper. Way to many products to list them all ask us good chance we can cut IT for you. We don’t cut steel, stainless steel or any other ferrous metals.
  • How much will it cost?
    • Our cost is based on the time spent on your project, so with each project being unique, we don’t can only provide pricing till we see your individual project.
  • But I just need an idea on cost for you to cut a sheet of plywood, why can’t you just give me an ball park quote?
    • I truly wish we could, but that wouldn’t be very fair, to you or us.  For example, say you want to have a couple 36”x48” rectangles cut out of the sheet that wouldn’t cost the same as a sheet of plywood with 1900 holes in it. So it is just best to quote your project.
  • So besides the cutting cost, what other fees will I be charged.
    • We will only charge you for the time spent on your project, whether that was doing drawings or cutting. We don’t have any setup or tooling fee’s.
  • I only want one part cut, what is the minimum number of parts that you require?
    • We don’t have a minimum or maximum for that matter. If you want one part or 1000’s of parts we can help you.
